We are recruiting for the next PhD intake to the IGPP (Institute for Global Pandemic Planning). This is a four-year fully funded PhD programme.

Applications for a four-year, fully funded PhD in any area related to pandemic planning, are currently open. We are recruiting our third cohort of students to join Warwick’s Institute for Global Pandemic Planning (https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fac/igpp/). The IGPP is an institute built on philanthropic donations raised during the COVID pandemic to bring together world-class expertise in Mathematical Epidemiology, Public Health, and Behavioural Science to develop comprehensive global solutions for the health, social, economic and psychological impacts of pandemics.

The programme will include participation in relevant post-graduate taught courses during the first year, followed by full time research on a chosen project. We aim to promote multidisciplinary research, and so each student will have supervision from academics in at least two of the main disciplines of the Institute, with supervisors selected from the Warwick Medical School, Warwick Business School, or the Department of Mathematics. Example projects include the study of the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical interventions during pandemics, development of models of infectious disease and their utility as predictive tools, researching the impact of behavioural responses during a pandemic, or developing tools to diagnose viral infection.

The studentships are funded to cover a student stipend, university fees (national or international level) and a Research and Training Support Grant. Additional research support costs will be provided for students involved in laboratory work. All students will benefit from a comprehensive training programme and cohort learning events.

The deadline is the 6th February
