Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in Mathematical Modelling to join the Centre for the Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSTHM).

The successful candidate will be developing and applying existing spatial mathematical models of Dengue Virus transmission, exploiting the growing availability of molecular data within an epidemiological framework to infer transmission patterns. In particular, the post will be using epidemiological, serological and sequence data on Dengue Virus infection to infer transmission patterns and the impact of novel therapeutic strategies. The project will involve ongoing collaboration with field teams in the Asia/Pacific region and visits to the region may be required.

This opportunity is suitable for someone with strong statistical, mathematical and computational skills. The post holder will be working closely with epidemiologists and computational biologists both at the LSHTM and with partner institutions.

The successful candidate will have scope to develop his/her own research within this area in collaboration with colleagues at LSHTM. It is expected that the work will involve a range of complex and original scientific studies and requires a high degree of personal motivation.

The post is available immediately and is funded for one year. The appointment will be made on LSHTM’s Academic Pathway scale with a starting salary at Grade 6 (£38,533 to £43,759 per annum inclusive) or above depending on the candidate experience.
