Currently, much of this expertise is located within the Zeeman Institute for Systems Biology and Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research (SBIDER, https://warwick.ac.uk/SBIDER). SBIDER has around 25 academic staff members from multiple departments in the science faculty, including 3 staff members who hold joint positions between SLS and WMI. SBIDER has world-leading research in infectious disease epidemiology (particularly vector-borne diseases, livestock infections and control by vaccination, and is renowned for its work during the COVID-19 pandemic), genomics (leading the Genomics Health Protection Research Unit) and systems biology (including cellular mechanisms, cancer and neuroscience).
Individuals will be expected to have original research programmes that contain elements of both mathematics and life sciences. All applicants must be able to demonstrate proven track records in publication and firm plans for generating research income; we particularly welcome applicants with independent fellowships. We would encourage applicants who build on existing skills within SBIDER as well as those that complement our research. Applications from under-represented backgrounds are welcome.
