Up to two 18 month post-doctoral positions in epidemic decision support (available to Australian citizens or Permanent Residents only)

The Research Fellow in Epidemic Decision Support will be working on an externally funded collaborative research programme with colleagues at Defence Science Technology Group to extend and develop a biosurveillance decision support system (BDSS) for infectious disease pandemic emergency management in a defence context.

The BDSS Military version will build upon existing public health-oriented tools and capabilities for pandemic planning and response. The appointee(s) will work closely with other research programme staff developing mathematical and computational models for real-time situational assessment of pandemic activity and associated data-visualisation and decision-support systems.

The successful applicant(s) will have completed a PhD in decision science, infectious disease modelling, applied mathematics, computer science or a closely related field of research, with a developing or established profile in research as a member of a team. They will have demonstrated an ability to publish scientific findings in a timely manner and have shown an aptitude for engagement with external parties outside of academia. They will be required to work within the strict time and organisational constraints of this externally funded project, leading development of a BDSS suitable for use in a defence context.
