To develop methods and software tools that inform outbreak analysis

We are seeking an experienced mathematical modeller to develop and deliver a research portfolio supporting outbreak response. The post-holder will manage new and innovative research projects and provide modelling expertise for the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) and the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Modelling and Health Economics.

The post involves analysis of epidemiological, behavioural and genomic data to develop methods and software tools that inform outbreak analysis, such as reconstructing outbreak dynamics and understanding the factors driving transmission. It will involve close work with teams in the UK-Public Health Rapid Support Team, UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), Imperial College London, and partners in Low- and Middle- Income Countries (LMICs) to support informed decisions during outbreak response. The post-holder will also support the development of outbreak response teams in programme eligible countries to ensure effective preparedness and response for future epidemics/pandemics.
