Research Fellow in Health Economics
Fixed term post on Grade 7: £35,308 to £43,155 per annum
Full time (37.5 hours); part-time hours will be considered no less than 0.6FTE (22.5 hours)
Following considerable success in the award of new research funding in the area of health economics, we are seeking to appoint to appoint a new research fellow in health economics. You will join an expanding group of health economics researchers based at the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS).
The successful candidate will work on a research programme, funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Programme, aimed at generating new evidence on the cost-effectiveness of interventions targeted at infectious diseases in England. The precise infections and interventions considered will by driven by Department of Health and Social Care policy makers. The successful candidate will have day-to-day responsibility for critical reviews of relevant economic literature and analysis of appropriate datasets, identification of knowledge gaps and, where appropriate, primary research aimed at addressing those gaps. They will work closely with a group of mathematical modellers based at the University of Warwick in the development and fitting of infectious disease models.
You will have a DPhil/PhD in health economics or one of its cognate disciplines (or be close to submitting your thesis), or have equivalent experience. A good understanding of health economic evaluation concepts and methods and experience of using statistical software (e.g. STATA, R or SAS) is also essential, coupled with the ability to produce high quality research relevant to the health sciences.
You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work, but there will be the opportunity for occasional remote working.
The position is fixed term for three years in the first instance and offered on a full-time basis. Part-time hours [no less than 0.60 FTE (22.5 hours)] will also be considered.
