The PDF will help to create models that integrate SARS-CoV-2 wastewater concentrations into population dynamic models for SARS-CoV-2.

The PDF will support a project funded by the Canadian Network for Modelling Infectious Diseases (CANMOD) (https://canmod.net) funded by NSERC-EIDM. The PDF will be based in Guelph, ON with a start date in March 2023. The Fellow will join a vibrant community of researchers, educators, and students in the Department of Population Medicine. The fellow will have opportunities for collaborative learning, professional development, interdisciplinary research, and networking including dedicated opportunities available for NSERC-EIDM trainees. Fellows will also have an opportunity to develop skills in research mentorship within the math.epi.lab team (that includes PhD and MSc students). The Fellow will work in a highly interdisciplinary project team with partners in microbiology, environmental science, epidemiology, modelling, and waterborne-pathogens. Required qualifications: A PhD in mathematics/statistics, epidemiology, or a related field; a working familiarity with quantitative research in R; previous experience in infectious disease modelling (especially stochastic models), and/or statistical inference for infectious disease dynamics; strong scientific writing skills; an interest in policy/practice oriented public health research including a desire to use models to guide approaches for early detection and outbreak containment.
