Tenure-track position in MICROBIAL ECOLOGY w/ expertise in ecology and evolution of infectious diseases at F&M

The Department of Biology at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a tenure-track position in MICROBIAL ECOLOGY with expertise in the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases, beginning August 2025. Appointment is for nine months per year. The rank will be Assistant Professor or Instructor depending on qualifications. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate degree. We seek a teacher-scholar who can establish an active research program that engages undergraduates and can develop a dynamic teaching program that includes an introductory course in ecology, evolution, and diversity, upper-level electives in their area of expertise, and courses in the College’s general education program. In support, we provide a research laboratory, generous start-up funds, access to confocal and electron microscopes, staffed greenhouse and vivarium, BSL-2 facility, temperature-controlled walk-in chambers, resources for tissue culture, support for travel to conferences, and summer support for undergraduate researchers. Opportunities also exist to contribute to interdisciplinary programs, including public health, data science, and environmental science. Franklin & Marshall College is located in Lancaster PA, consistently ranked as one of the best small cities in the nation.
