The Laboratory of Applied Evolutionary Biology, Department of Medical Microbiology, Academic Medical Center (AMC), University of Amsterdam invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in bacterial evolution. Level of appointment will depend on qualifications. The position can be taken up immediately.

The Laboratory of Applied Evolutionary Biology is a recent initiative within the Department of Medical Microbiology that focuses on the use of computational tools to understand pathogen biology and to create new opportunities for disease control. To further expand the scope of the Laboratory, we are seeking a colleague to lead our work in bacterial evolution.

You have a strong background in bacterial evolution with expertise relevant to host-pathogen interactions and/or antimicrobial resistance with an emphasis on computational research. You have a track record of academic leadership as evidenced by publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, acquisition of independent research funding, and experience in training students and postdocs.

• The gross per month salary range is €4380,- to €5692,- for Assistant Professors or €5229,- to €6665,- for Associate Professors, based on 38 hours per week (scale CAO UMC).
• In addition to the monthly salary there is an annual holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8,3%).
• We initially offer an appointment for 12 months, with the prospect of a permanent appointment (this is a standard probationary period for all faculty and staff).
