Senior Research Software Engineer in LSHTM TB Modelling group, TB Centre, and CMMID

The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Research Software Engineer to join the world-leading TB Modelling group, TB Centre, and Centre for the Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases, at LSHTM.
This position is to co-lead the development of free, open-source software for tuberculosis disease analytics. The post holder will contribute to the software engineering vision of the project and will be responsible for its implementation. They will follow modern good practices including the use of version control systems, automatic/unit testing, code coverage assessment, and the use of continuous integration services. They will develop tools integrated in the current software ecosystem, well-written and documented, quality-controlled, and easily maintainable, and will implement a release schedule.
The post holder will have a PhD degree or equivalent experience in leading research software development and excellent programming skills in at least two commonly used programming language (R, C, python, Julia etc.) Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time 1.0 FTE and fixed-term, available from 01/07/2023 until 31/12/2024. There is likely to be a possibility to extend on mutual agreement.
The salary will be on the Professional Services Pathways Grade 7 at in the range £50,048 - £57,013 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the LSHTM.
