Senior Research Assistant, in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, the School of Public Health, University Hong Kong.

Senior Research Assistant in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (with Prof. Ben Cowling's Team) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 504477) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in statistics, computer sciences, biostatistics, public health or a related quantitative and computational discipline. Those who are expecting to obtain the doctoral degree by September 2021 are welcome to apply. They must be proficient in data analysis using statistical or mathematical software, such as R and MATLAB. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English, a demonstrated academic track record, and a keen interest in academic research in the said area. They should be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. Experience in infectious disease modelling and analysis will be an advantage.

The appointee will develop statistical inferential frameworks to estimate epidemiological parameters for assessing the dynamics of COVID-19. He/She will investigate the existing estimation procedures to improve the estimations of these model parameters at real-time scale, and assess the disease dynamics and the impact of the interventions. He/She will also contribute to other projects in the team and perform other research-related duties as assigned.
