RF in disease burden, vaccine impact, modelling and economic evaluation studies on vaccine-preventable diseases in mainland China.

Applications are invited for a London-based Research Fellow level mathematical modeller, health economist, epidemiologist or statistician to join the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM, as part of a collaboration funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The post is funded for 18 months.

The post holder will be responsible for working with key partners in China (including the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Fudan University) and the UK (including Public Health England) in order to generate evidence from burden of disease, vaccine impact, mathematical modelling and economic evaluation studies on vaccine-preventable diseases. The post holder will be supervised by Prof. Mark Jit and will be part of the Modelling and Economic Evaluation of Vaccines (MEEV) group, a highly successful and supportive group with a long history of working with a range of countries around the world on generating evidence to support vaccination policy. The post holder will also have the opportunity to affiliate with relevant centres at LSHTM (including the Vaccine Centre, Centre for Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases and Centre for Health Economics in London).

The successful applicant will have a doctorate (or Master’s degree and good research experience) from a highly quantitative discipline, such as statistics, mathematical modelling, health economics, or epidemiology. A working proficiency of Mandarin Chinese and/or familiarity with mainland China are desirable, although not required. Further particulars are included in the job description.
