We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join the Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Dynamics department at LSHTM to work on Polio Eradication. The post-holder will develop and parameterize models of poliovirus transmission, with the aim of capturing the spatial patterns of observed cases and improving understanding of drivers of transmission. Data are available from collaborators to parameterize models, including disease surveillance and demography data from affected countries. The models will be used to inform and evaluate vaccination strategies that expedite polio eradication. The post-holder will work closely with partners within the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. This role is funded by the Gates Foundation. The post is available for just under 1 year, with the strong possibility of further funding.
