Research Associate to develop real-time models of Covid-19 transmission to support Imperial College’s Covid-19 modelling response

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate to join the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at Imperial College London.

We are seeking a Research Associate to develop models of Covid-19 transmission to support Imperial College’s Covid-19 modelling response.

This position will support the development of models of Covid-19 transmission including existing predictive models of transmission currently used in real-time to inform policy makers.

*Duties and responsibilities
One of the objectives will be to design novel methodology to include further complex spatiotemporal heterogeneity to the existing models used by the team. You will be involved in studying the causal effect of interventions on transmission (such as non-pharmaceutical interventions or vaccination) and the limits to which inference of these causal relationships is possible.

*Essential requirements
You should have a PhD or equivalent in one of the following areas: infectious disease epidemiology, population biology, mathematics, statistics, theoretical physics, computer science or a similarly quantitative discipline with research experience in infectious disease epidemiology, biostatistics or applied statistics. You should have experience of developing innovative statistical methods, programming and communicating research findings.

This post is full time and fixed term until 15 May 2022 and will be based at the St Mary’s Campus, Paddington. Imperial College is supportive of flexible working. The College is happy to discuss the possibility of implementing such arrangements for this post, with suitably qualified people, subject to operational requirements.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £36,045 - £39,183 per annum.
