Research Assistant in Polio Epidemiological Analysis
We are looking to recruit a Research Assistant to help with an exciting new project that will inform polio eradication. The post holder will collate publicly available data on vaccination coverage and demographic and public health indicators, and work with data from surveillance for poliomyelitis across the African continent. These data will be used to answer questions about the contribution of vaccination campaigns using the oral polio vaccine on preventing poliomyelitis outbreaks. The post-holder will contribute to presentations with stakeholders and in the writing of reports and publications.
The role will suit a person with strong general data management skills, an ability to summarise key trends from surveillance data, and analyse data with support from the research team. The post holder will have an MSc or PhD in a broadly health related subject with expertise in disease epidemiology, statistical analysis, and an interest in vaccine-preventable diseases are particularly desirable. Demonstrated ability to synthesise work into figures and reports that are interpretable to a variety of audiences will also be important. No specific pre-existing software skills are required, but the post holder will be expected to become familiar with a range of data analysis software packages over the course of the project. Further particulars are included within the link.
