Applications are invited for an epidemiologist and/or infectious disease modeller to join the Department Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The post-holder will be funded for 18 months through a research grant from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in the UK on an interdisciplinary and collaborative project with Public Health England, Fudan University and China CDC to use epidemiological methods including literature reviews, mathematical modelling and health economics to inform vaccination policy in China.

The post-holder will be supervised by Dr Stefan Flasche and will join a highly successful and supportive group with colleagues at LSHTM, Fudan University, China, and other international partners. It is expected that the project will involve a range of complex and original scientific research that requires a high degree of personal motivation.

The successful applicant will have a Master's degree in statistics, mathematical modelling, epidemiology or another relevant discipline with a strong quantitative component. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in statistics and/or mathematical modelling preferably on infectious diseases. Further particulars are included in the attached job description.

The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. It is full-time, available immediately and is funded for 18 months in the first instance. The appointment will be made on the School’s Research Assistant scale Grade 5, in the range £33,567-£36,316 per annum (inclusive of London weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year , pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Day”. Membership of the USS Pension Scheme is available.
