Research Assistant

The Urban Malaria Research Group at Northwestern analyzes field, trial, and routine health system data; conducts statistical analyses and configures, calibrates, and applies malaria transmission models to answer questions aimed at improving understanding of disease dynamics, informing effective public health campaigns, and guiding rational development of new public-health interventions.

We seek a Research Assistant to support complex survey data analysis studies, lead writing of publications, and present at conferences and scientific meetings.

Responsibilities
• Collate, clean and analyze survey data (e.g Demographic and Health Survey, Malaria Indicator Survey) and generate plots and description of findings
• Conduct quality assurance of existing analysis and identify areas for further investigation
• Critique study research and method proposals and suggest appropriate alternative methods and/or research techniques
• Present at team meetings, conferences and scientific meetings

Requirements
• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or Statistics, and related disciplines
• Strong scripting skills and experience in R preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid illustration skills or interest in learning
• Dedicated team player
• Self-driven and ability to work with ambiguity
