Research Assistant / Associate in polio epidemiology: estimating the impact of the inactivated polio vaccine and timeliness of sewage surveillance
We are seeking an excellent researcher to work on the epidemiology of poliovirus, including analysis of global environmental and acute flaccid paralysis surveillance data maintained by the WHO. The post is funded by the WHO Polio Research Committee and focuses on estimating the impact of immunisation with the inactivated polio vaccine and quantifying the sensitivity and timeliness of novel surveillance methods across Africa and Asia during the polio endgame in the prevention of vaccine-derived poliovirus.
You will work closely with the polio team in the Vaccine Epidemiology Research Group and have access to excellent peer support from with other members of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis. You will also communicate and meet with Global Program Support Groups from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and with staff at WHO.
