We are seeking a Research Software Engineer to join the HIV Inference Group within the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College London.

Within the HIV Inference Group we rely on software; we develop statistical models, simulations and robust data pipelines for analysing, modelling, and disseminating HIV data. We are looking for a Research Software Engineer to collaborate with the group to help improve and or all of these, by increasing the reliability and performance of packages, developing processes around our data pipeline and improving computational best practice within the research team.

You will work alongside other Research Software Engineers embedded within the group and the Research Software for Infectious Disease Epidemiology (RESIDE-IC) team (https://reside-ic.github.io/), a team of nine research software engineers and web developers with diverse specialisms with a commitment to open access and reproducible research.

Key activities include:

  • Develop and maintain high quality research software used by project team members and external academic collaborators (directly and via web applications).
  • Design, create, and support user-friendly software interfaces and data visualization for use by governments, public health bodies, and international organizations.
  • Interface with project team members and external partners to understand user requirements and iteratively develop appropriate software solutions.
  • Support robust research software development, data curation, and workflow.
