Professor (and Head of Department) at Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Dynamics

The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Dynamics (IDE-D) is looking to appoint a Full Professor with a specialism in disease dynamics.

The post-holder will have a doctoral degree in a quantitative subject relevant to infectious disease epidemiology and prior experience of leading a large academic group (e.g. department, centre or faculty). They will have a track record of research and education in infectious disease epidemiology, and of collaboration and attracting grant funding, an excellent publication record, experience in conducting interdisciplinary research in diverse settings, and commitment to providing high-quality teaching and maintaining respectful working relationships. This appointment is expected to take on one or both of the following leadership roles:

(1) Head of Department for IDE-D. This is involves leading a department of around 100 well-established and renowned researchers in the areas of vaccine confidence, outbreak preparedness and response and infectious disease modelling. This role has an initial term of three years and a 0.4 FTE time allocation.

(2) Faculty coordinator for Health Data Science. This involves coordinating research and education strategy across seven departments and multiple LSHTM-based centres, with a focus on building and strengthening skills in artificial intelligence and machine learning for epidemiological research.

The post is permanent and full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE.

The salary will be on the Professorial salary scale, Grade C-A in the range £72,232 - £115,727+ per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
