We invite applications from highly motivated postdoctoral scientists to join a US-UK collaborative project investigating viral dynamics in wildlife. This interdisciplinary initiative, co-led by researchers from the Royal Veterinary College, University of Glasgow, Cary Institute, and Smithsonian Institution, aims to advance understanding of how environmental changes influence virus transmission in wildlife and inform zoonotic spillover predictions.

About the Role

The postholder will contribute to linking viral metagenomic (metaviromic) data with epidemiological models, helping to uncover key drivers of virus transmission. Responsibilities include:
• Developing and applying computational and statistical inference methods.
• Simulating virus abundance across diverse epidemiological scenarios.
• Analyzing high-resolution longitudinal data from wild rodent populations in the UK and Uganda.

This research addresses significant challenges in integrating ecological and epidemiological models, with important implications for global public health.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with expertise in fields such as population dynamics, disease ecology, infectious disease modeling, or computational biology. Strong quantitative skills, problem-solving abilities, and an interest in interdisciplinary research are essential. Experience with statistical frameworks or fitting models to complex datasets would be highly valued. Candidates with transferable skills from other disciplines are also encouraged to apply.
