Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Modelling
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the new Big Data Institute, working with Professor Deirdre Hollingsworth and Professor Graham Medley in the interim, along with the neglected tropical disease (NTD) Modelling Consortium. Research at the BDI is focussed on analysis of biomedical big data, and generation of health knowledge and information.
The successful candidate will play a full role in developing computational solutions to support the global goals for NTD. The post holder will be a full member of the research group with particular responsibility for ensuring that the computational approaches are efficient and accurate, including optimised code for simulating and fitting transmission models on desktop and high performance computers. The post holder provides guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers.
The successful candidate must hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, in mathematical modelling (e.g. engineering, ecology), computational science or statistics together with post qualification research experience. You will have a strong publication record and familiarity with scientific research along with experience contributing to presentations as well as acquiring specialist knowledge in computational mathematical modelling. You must also have a track record of programming in research environments with expertise in one and proficiency in one other of Julia, R, MatLab, C++, Javascript or Python for large-scale computational simulations.
This full time position is fixed term until 28th February 2021.
