The Michigan Center for Respiratory Virus Research and Response and the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan is seeking an independent and motivated postdoctoral research fellow to work with Drs. Emily Martin and Marisa Eisenberg. This is a full-time research position focused on COVID-19 and influenza epidemiology and vaccine effectiveness. The Center conducts studies in community and clinical settings throughout Southeastern Michigan. This position will provide the opportunity to contribute to the Center’s work using skills in study design, complex data analyses and/or laboratory work. The successful candidate will support epidemiological research projects to investigate respiratory virus transmission.

Key tasks will include statistical analysis of survey, laboratory, healthcare, and surveillance data, preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and contribution to study design, organization, and grant development. The successful candidate will be supported to develop independent research projects in the domain of epidemiology, including the preparation of K-level NIH funding or equivalent. The position offers support for professional development, including travel to an annual meeting and/or training workshop.

---Responsibilities---

Conduct analyses using R, SAS, STATA to answer epidemiological research questions and prepare analysis reports across Center project.

Develop computational modeling frameworks for epidemiological questions related to transmission of respiratory viruses (e.g. transmission modeling such as compartmental or agent-based SIR models).

Contribute to the Center’s publications through writing independently driven manuscripts and contributing to group publications. Review and comment on collaborative manuscripts within CDC and NIH networks.

Assist with project implementation, daily management of study cohorts, and other research related tasks as needed.
