This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to tracking and predicting the transmission of infectious diseases by combining real-time genetic and epidemiological data. The postholder will report to Dr Nuno Faria, and will be based in the Infectious Disease Group in the Department of Zoology Mansfield Road, Oxford.
The postholder will join a team dedicated to the generation and analysis of new genomic data in real-time in various settings. They will work closely with the CADDE centre (Centre for Arbovirus Discovery, Diagnostic, Genomics and Epidemiology), an MRC-FAPESP partnership award between research and public health institutions in Brazil and the UK. The postholder will be responsible for generating and analysing virus genome sequence data using cutting edge portable and metagenomic sequencing approaches as well as state of the art bioinformatic tools, and for helping to establish real-time virus genomic surveillance projects in several locations in Brazil and beyond.
The postholder will also provide guidance/day-to-day supervision for DPhil/PhD/project students, and will be part of the Infectious Disease group in the Department of Zoology in Oxford.
