Postdoctoral position on dengue virus experimental evolution in response to environmental change and novel control strategies.

Postdoctoral Associate in Arbovirology

The Vogels Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join our growing team in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at the Yale School of Public Health. Our lab uses experimental approaches to study the ecology, evolution, and epidemiology of arthropod-borne (arbo)viruses.

We are specifically looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to lead our project on the evolutionary response of dengue virus to environmental change and novel control strategies. We use innovative genomic approaches combined with phenotypic assays involving live mosquitoes to study how arboviruses may evolve and adapt to new environments. The postdoc will work with an interdisciplinary team of experts in virology, genomics, and immunology at Yale.

We are a new lab in the Yale School of Public Health with a vibrant research community, access to state-of-the-art research facilities, and outstanding career development resources. For more information about our lab see www.vogelslab.com.

  • Excellent molecular biology (wetlab) skills with experience in conducting molecular virology techniques under BSL-2 conditions (e.g., deep mutational scanning, site-directed mutagenesis, cell culture, virus propagation, PCR, sequencing, etc)
  • Experience with bioinformatic processing of sequencing data is a plus
  • Experience with studying virus-mosquito interactions is desired, but not required
