Postdoctoral position in infectious disease ecology (Virginia Tech)
A postdoctoral position focused on the ecology and evolution of infectious disease is available in the laboratories of Dr. Kate Langwig (https://www.langwiglab.org/) and Dr. Joseph Hoyt (https://hoytresearch.org/) in the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech. The candidate will be part of an EEID funded project jointly funded by the U.S. NSF and NSFC in China. This international collaborative project seeks to investigate drivers and dynamics of bat persistence with the fungal disease, white-nose syndrome across North America, Europe and Asia. Responsibilities of the postdoc may include modeling and analysis of population and infectious disease data, fieldwork, and/or oversight of bat infection experiments. We encourage postdoctoral applicants to apply their own creativity and expertise to project development and there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to design and implement their own projects. The Langwig and Hoyt labs are housed in an infectious disease collaborative space, which provides an environment for interdisciplinary research on environment-infectious disease relationships. The position includes a competitive salary and fringe benefits.
