The Omics Data Science Initiative at Simon Fraser University is searching for multiple postdoctoral positions, available immediately.
ODSI comprises a well funded research cluster, with active interdisciplinary research programs and postdocs in data science for molecular level data with focus areas of infectious diseases, precision oncology and heart-lung research. We are currently searching for additional postdoctoral fellows in each area as projects expand.

In infectious disease bioinformatics, faculty members include Fiona Brinkman, Zabrina Brumme, Leonid Chindelevitch, and Will Hsiao, with projects associated with the international IRIDA.ca and GenEpiO.org consortiums they lead, in collaboration with the BC Centre for Disease Control, Public Health Agency of Canada National Microbiology Laboratories, and HIV/AIDS Laboratory Program at the BC Centre for Excellence, plus additional projects in genomic epidemiology and vaccine design.

In pursuit of novel algorithms for application to the general area of precision medicine in oncology, the BC Cancer Agency and BC Children’s hospital are collaborating with SFU scientists in Computer Science (Martin Ester) and the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (Ryan Morin).

Successful candidates for each position would become a member of a proposed new Omics and Data Sciences Institute and have some flexibility in choosing supervisors and topics.

Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in a relevant biological/bioinformatics/computing sciences discipline, plus demonstrated experience in relevant research. They will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional, team-based group of interdisciplinary researchers located at SFU, and partner organizations across Canada and internationally.

Salary is based on experience and is competitive.
