We are thrilled to announce an opening for a talented postdoctoral scholar to join our team at Stanford. Our group is dedicated to identifying effective solutions for combating tuberculosis—one of the most devastating infectious diseases globally. This fellowship provides an opportunity to contribute to research developing innovative strategies for tuberculosis diagnosis and prevention in in high-risk populations. The postdoctoral fellow will work with Dr. Jason Andrews, Associate Professor in Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine, along with research partners at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) in Brazil and South African TB Vaccine Initiative (SATVI) in Cape Town.

Our goal is to identify effective approaches for case detection and prevention of tuberculosis in high burden populations, including children in tuberculosis-endemic communities and people residing in prisons and other correctional facilities. Our ongoing studies in Brazil and South Africa are evaluating novel diagnostic approaches, providing unique opportunities to leverage new data for testing innovative approaches to prevent tuberculosis. The postdoctoral fellow will leverage these primary data, together with large surveillance datasets, to develop and apply mathematical models to investigate the potential impact of new diagnostic and prevention strategies on tuberculosis incidence and outcomes. In addition to these projects, the fellow will have the freedom and support to explore other research interests related to tuberculosis or other infectious diseases.
