Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Georgia – Disease forecasting
The lab of Dr. John Drake (https://daphnia.ecology.uga.edu/drakelab/) in the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia is seeking to hire a postdoctoral associate to contribute to ongoing work in the area of quantitative disease ecology. This position will perform mathematical analysis of dynamical systems models and/or develop statistical models with a focus on disease forecasting.
This position will be expected to participate in the development and execution of a quantitative research project in his/her area of expertise. Research methodology may include dynamical systems modeling, stochastic processes, simulation, computational statistics, geostatistics, and/or machine learning. This position will work closely with the Forecasting working group in the Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases (https://www.ceid.uga.edu/).
Qualifications: PhD in mathematics, physics, ecology, epidemiology or related discipline; proficiency in scientific programming, preferably in R; excellent oral and written communication skills.
The expected start date is January, 2022. This position is for a one-year appointment with the possibility for renewal, dependent upon funding, performance and other factors.
