We are seeking a CDC Modelling Infectious Diseases in Healthcare Network Postdoctoral Researcher to join a research group with responsibility for carrying out research on probabilistic transmission models to track the spread of healthcare-associated infections. The work will form part of a larger initiative funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Modelling Infectious Diseases in Healthcare Network (www.cdc.gov/hai/research/MIND-Healthcare.html), working with collaborators from the University of Utah and Harvard University, including Professor Matt Samore and Professor Marc Lipsitch. The postholder will report to Dr David Eyre and Professor Ben Cooper.

As our postdoctoral researcher your responsibilities will include developing methods and software using probabilistic transmission models, based on MCMC methods, to track the spread of healthcare-associated infection, and preparing manuscripts describing important methodological advances and subsequent applied publications where the methods are used to assess infection control interventions - in particular to assess the impact of contact precautions on MRSA transmission, and to investigate determinants of C difficile transmission.

You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil and have experience of implementing mechanistic models. It is also essential that you are proficient in writing code in at least one programming language and it would be desirable if you were proficient in writing code in C++.
