Postdoc/Research Scientist position in modeling of typhoid vaccination strategies

The Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at Stanford University is seeking a talented postdoctoral scholar to join our research team studying typhoid fever. The position will be co-supervised by Dr. Jason Andrews and Dr. Nathan Lo. Our group is dedicated to identifying effective solutions for combating typhoid fever—one of the most devastating infectious diseases globally. This fellowship provides an opportunity to contribute to research developing innovative strategies for public health control of typhoid fever through vaccination in in high-risk populations. The work will have broad scientific and public health impact in global health.

The postdoctoral scholar will have a key role in mathematical modeling studies to identify effective strategies for provision of vaccines to reduce the burden of typhoid fever in low- and middle-income countries. The postdoctoral fellow/research scientist will leverage these primary data, together with publicly available surveillance datasets, to develop and apply mathematical models investigating the potential impact of expanded vaccination policies, including a cost-effectiveness analysis. The work will be positioned to be used to inform global vaccine policy.

The ideal candidate will have a superb quantitative background, strong coding skills (e.g., Python, R), expertise in infectious disease and public health modeling across multiple pathogens, experience in cost-effectiveness analysis, and high level of independence with publication record to support these characteristics. Our global health work involves collaboration with international colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team. Our Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine encompasses all aspects of infectious diseases research and provides a strong community of scientific colleagues and students.

Please send a CV, brief statement of research/career interests, and contact information for 3 references by email to: Jandr@stanford.edu and Nathan.lo@stanford.edu. The expected salary will range from $75,000 to $80,000 based on experience. The position is available immediately and will be for a term of one year with the possibility of extension.
