Post-doctoral position - mathematical modelling of virus-virus interactions
A 2-year post-doctoral position in mathematical modelling is available at Institut Pasteur Paris, France, in the “Epidemiology and Modelling of antibacterial evasion” unit (EMAE) to work on the interaction between respiratory viruses.
The post-holder will analyse jointly clinical and surveillance datasets of from different settings and build mathematical models to analyse interactions between pathogens, estimate their burden and investigate how optimization of vaccination and/or other control strategies can help reducing the incidence of severe infections.
The different tasks will include conducting data analysis, building and analysing dynamic models, estimating model parameters from empirical data, and simulating scenarios.
The post-doctoral project is funded by a grant from Sanofi Pasteur, and will involve collaborations with researchers from Institut Pasteur, Fisabio (Valencia, Spain), Sanofi Pasteur and Max Planck Institute. The researcher will work in close collaboration with researchers from different fields (epidemiology, clinicians, mathematical modelling, and microbiology).
Applicants should have a PhD in infectious disease epidemiology, mathematical modelling, computational biology, quantitative ecology or relevant quantitative subject. Applicants should have strong background in computer programming (C, C++, R or python), modelling or related methodological development and excellent communication skills (both oral and writing). Experience appreciated: a first experience in modelling of biological phenomena and data analysis would be an asset. Desired skills: an appetite for life/health modelling and interdisciplinary collaboration is essential; rigor, adaptability, teamwork.
Interested candidates should send their application (CV, list of publications, motivation letter and names and two reference letters) to Lulla Opatowski (lulla.opatowski@pasteur.fr). Applications will be evaluated continuously until the position is filled.
