Post-doctoral position at IRD in Montpellier (France): Statistical analysis of the impact of Vector Control of the dengue epidemic in Reunion Island

Post-doctoral position at IRD in Montpellier (France): Statistical analysis of the impact of Vector Control on the course of the dengue epidemic in Reunion Island in 2018-2019
A 1-year post-doctoral position funded by the ANSES (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety) is available for a highly motivated young researcher at the Research Unit MIVEGEC (Infectious Diseases and Vectors: Ecology, Genetics, Evolution and Control) at the IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement) in Montpellier, France.
The postdoc post will focus on the statistical analysis of the efficacy of vector control actions targeted against Aedes albopictus on the course of the dengue epidemic in Reunion Island in 2018-2019. The aim is to use data collected locally (epidemiological data, vector control data) and analyze them in order to study the effectiveness of certain Aedes control actions on the course of the dengue epidemic in La Reunion Island during 2018-2019.
The activities will consist of statistical analysis of field data in close collaboration with the project supervisor (David Roiz, CRCN IRD MIVEGEC). Descriptive analysis of retrospective and geo-referenced databases. Collect additional data. Develop and validate the statistical analyses (to be defined, for example: Generalized Linear Model (GLM), Generalized Additive Model (GAM), time series). Writing and submission of a scientific publication.
The competences required are: Statistical analysis and programming (ex: software R). Spatial modeling (ex: R and QGIS / ArcGIS). Spatial ecology or population ecology (eg vectors, mosquitoes in general, Aedes genus). The candidate must hold a PhD presented and less than two years of professional experience as a researcher after the PhD.
The post will be for 1 year (12 months) beginning in November 2019 with a net salary of around 2200 euros in Montpellier, France. MIVEGEC is a reference research unit for disease ecology and vector-borne diseases and Montpellier an important research pole center.
Applicants should send a brief summary of research activities, a CV, a list of publications, and the names and e-mail addresses of two referees to David Roiz (david.roiz@ird.fr). Deadline for submission October 20, 2019.
