PhD position in Biostatistics

The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. The Biostatistics Unit of Swiss TPH invites applications for a

PhD position in Biostatistics

The PhD topic involves the development and application of Bayesian spatio-temporal methods to climate sensitive infectious disease data and it is part of an EU-funded project. The successful applicant will be registered for a PhD degree at the University of Basel and receive a doctoral salary at Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) scale. The position is available immediately, but a later starting date is possible by negotiation.

Required qualifications are:
• A two-year MSc degree (120 ECTs) in Mathematics, Statistics or closely related field
• Strong mathematical and statistical modeling skills
• Strong programming skills in R essential, additional programming skills in C/C+ or Fortran as an advantage
• Very good English speaking and writing skills
