Multiple openings for postdocs in modeling infectious diseases in the Yale Public Health Modeling Unit.
The Public Health Modeling Unit at Yale School of Public Health has multiple openings for postdoctoral associates with experience and interest in applying mathematical and simulation models, statistics, optimization, and data analytics to questions related to infectious diseases.
Possible research topics include:
Modeling the dynamics and prevention strategies for respiratory syncytial virus (Pitzer, Weinberger, Warren)
Modeling prevention and treatment strategies for complications of substance use and infectious diseases (including overdose, HIV, HCV, bacterial endocarditis) and evaluation of programs and policies for the same (Gonsalves, Warren, Crawford)
Network-based epidemiology, causal inference, semi-parametric models, stochastic processes on networks and graphs, randomized experiments, network communication processes, and network sampling (Crawford)
Integrating data from field studies and vaccine trials to understand the epidemiology of typhoid fever; and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of vaccination strategies against typhoid and rotavirus (Pitzer)
Optimizing public health responses to control antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) gonorrhea. This includes, but is not limited to, modeling the transmission dynamics of AMR gonorrhea within and between different population groups, optimizing the surveillance of AMR gonorrhea, and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of public health strategies to control AMR gonorrhea (Yaesoubi).
The Public Health Modeling Unit at Yale School of Public Health is a collaborative, interdisciplinary group of researchers from epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and management, and ecology and evolutionary biology.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a quantitative field such as statistics, epidemiology, health policy, operations research, data science, or economics; strong computer programming skills; and good oral and written communication skills. Previous experience with mathematical or statistical modeling and/or health economics is highly preferred.
Salary will be competitive and depend on skills and experience, and will include benefits. Support for travel to conferences and field sites will also be provided.
Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a 1-2 page statement of research interests describing your qualifications, and contact information for three references to the relevant faculty members. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly welcomes applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.
