modelling the impact of digital adherence tech to support TB treatment
While tuberculosis is one of the biggest causes of death from a single infectious agent globally, TB can be cured with appropriate treatment. A number of barriers however, prevent patients from recovering, including long and complicated treatment regimens that involve the daily intake of medicines over the course months. By leveraging digital adherence technologies the ASCENT project (Adherence Support Coalition to End TB, https://www.digitaladherence.org/) aims to support TB patients with their treatment in a modern and more effective way. The successful candidate will develop mathematical models to examine the potential and impact of these technologies in Ethiopia and other countries in the trial, including the implications for costs faced by patients. Work will include comparing intervention impact, including deterministic compartmental and cohort models, as well working closely with researchers on the trial to support data collection and use to inform model structures and parameters.
