Modelling of drug resistance in the UK and US
Imperial College London hosts the Health Protection Research Units (HPRU) in Modelling Methodology and the HPRU in Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance. This position is a unique opportunity to contribute to research being carried out jointly by both units, and other UK collaborators at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and US collaborators from the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Duties and responsibilities
We are seeking an epidemiologist, biologist, statistician or similar with strong quantitative skills to join our research team as a Research Associate. You will carry out research on the epidemiology of carbapenem-resistant organisms (CROs) causing hospital-associated infections. Our aims are to investigate the risk factors for carriage and infection with CROs, compare surveillance data from the UK and the US, study transmission routes and assess potential resistance control measures. You will be mentored by Dr Xavier Didelot (Imperial), Dr Gwen Knight (LSHTM) and Professor Alison Holmes (Imperial).
Essential requirements
Candidates will be expected to hold a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, biology or similar quantitative discipline, to have an interest in infectious disease epidemiology and a record of publications in high-quality scientific journals.
