Modelling Covid-19 spread in healthcare setting in Egypt

A 15-month post-doctoral position in mathematical modelling of infectious diseases is open at the Conservatoire national des Arts et Métiers (Cnam) in Paris.

The post-holder will work on an project aiming at better understanding and controlling the risk of Covid-19 dissemination within Egyptian healthcare settings. He/she will develop mathematical models of SARS-Cov-2 transmission both within hospitals and in the general community; analyse epidemiological data to inform these models; and run simulation studies to evaluate the impact of a range of control measures. The project may also involve the evaluation of the indirect burden of Covid-19 on other conditions such as HCV-associated diseases.

The post-holder will work under the supervision of Kévin Jean, in collaboration with members of a research team involving the Cnam (http://mesurs.cnam.fr/, head: Laura Temime) and the Pasteur Institute (https://research.pasteur.fr/fr/member/lulla-opatowski/) that develops various projects on healthcare-based Covid-19 transmission modelling in different contexts, including France and Egypt.

Applicants should have a PhD in infectious disease epidemiology, mathematical modelling or computational biology. They should have a strong background in computer programming, modelling and statistics, and excellent communication skills. Experience in infectious disease epidemiology or healthcare-related research would be an advantage.

Interested candidates should send their application (CV including list of publications, motivation letter and names of two referees) to Kévin Jean (kevin.jean@lecnam.net). Applications will be evaluated continuously until the position is filled.
