This is an opportunity to work for ICON Global Health Economics and Epidemiology (HE&Epi), a division of ICON plc, an international clinical research organisation headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
We are currently seeking a Lead Consultant, with strong technical expertise in infectious disease modelling and strong project management skills, to join our team.
The HE&Epi team works in a range of disease areas. In addition to observation studies using a variety of study designs, including prospective and retrospective data collection, analysis of clinical and administrative databases, and systematic literature reviews, we conduct studies to estimate the health impact and cost-effectiveness of interventions, including vaccines, targeting infectious diseases, with a view to informing client and national policy decisions.
The Lead Consultant will manage projects and is expected to provide expertise relating to the critical review of relevant literature to inform model conceptualisation, design and parameterisation. They will also contribute to the programming of dynamic infectious disease models and associated cost effectiveness analyses and to the reporting and interpretation of findings.

Role requirements:
MSc or PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, or a related field
Technical knowledge of dynamic transmission modelling and economic modelling, and the ability to provide support and mentoring to junior team members
The ability to design conceptual model frameworks, program dynamic transmission models in C++ and R, link these to economic analyses in Excel and to collect and interpret available data, such as sentinel surveillance data, to inform model designs and calibration
The ability to prepare study protocols and reports
Strong project management skills and the ability to serve as the main point of contact for clients
Ability to manage complex projects
Ability to lead a project team
Excellent organizational skills including strong oral and written English communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills
Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task efficiently
Additional valuable skills would include:
Advanced VBA Excel proficiency
Familiarity with the workings of major National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (e.g. JCVI, ACIP, PBAC)
Experience in proposal writing and business development activities
