Join a team of ecologists, oceanographers and modellers, developing and supporting SAMS environmental modelling services and capabilities.
SAMS already has market leading software modelling tools used across the world in aquaculture and is involved in innovative projects to expand their capabilities and develop new applications.
This post will be responsible for the successful fulfilment and delivery of commercial computational modelling projects, including deposition of aquaculture wastes in the marine environment and the dispersal of sea lice between fish farms and their environs. You will make use of existing software and scripts for processing and analytical tasks and will be expected to interpret, report and discuss findings with key contacts and customers as well as seek input from other skilled staff.
The ideal candidate will be conversant with script-based computing systems (e.g. Matlab, Python, Linux), be able to work independently and efficiently manage their time according to demands of the role/project. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate appropriately to different audiences – modellers/customers/regulators.
This is an excellent career progression opportunity for someone looking to enhance their knowledge of environmental modelling as applied to marine aquaculture and wider marine related industries.
