Institut Pasteur - Paris, France: Postdoctoral positions in Bioinformatics in Viral Evolution and Antiviral Measures, Vignuzzi Lab
Postdoctoral positions in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics
High throughput techniques within life science are currently transforming biomedical research, as well as clinical practice, making data intensive modeling and analyses vital and integrated parts of all future progress. The Vignuzzi lab at Institut Pasteur is hiring one or two postdocs that will perform research within modeling and computation for high throughput deep sequencing genetic data for viruses and connected defective particles. The goal of the postdoctoral projects will be to develop bioinformatics analyses, and connected visualizations for the evolution of viral populations and associated defective genomes. The postdocs will form part of an international effort that has the goal to develop new drugs and vaccines for against over a dozen viruses (including Ebola, Zika and Influenza) based on the concept of interfering particles.
Main responsibilities:
You will take part in the computational modeling and data analysis research around viral evolution based on deep sequencing at Institut Pasteur in Paris led by Marco Vignuzzi (www.vignuzzilab.eu). Some travel between Paris and partnering sites in New York City and San Francisco may be required.
Duties include:
- Conduct computational and data analysis biomedical research around virus evolution
- Analyse temporal deep sequencing virus data to detect evolutionary signals and observe impact of antiviral approaches
-
Contribute to high level publications within the field of data analysis around viral evolution and deep sequencing data
-
Collaborate with an international consortium for developing drugs and vaccines built on interfering particles
Essential requirements:
• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics or Bioinformatics
• Highly proficient in general in computational and programming languages, including a working knowledge of R and Python. Experience with C++ would be an asset.
• Desirable having a previous experience working with biologists on biological questions
• Proficient in spoken and written English
The application should comprise the following in a single pdf file:
- A Curriculum Vitae and publication list.
- A short description of past and present research activities.
- List of references
Job offer: full-time – Postdoc position
Service / Unit / Laboratory: International Group for Data Analysis
