Inform Division Director, senior Health Scientist that develops, implements, oversees, and monitors science-based communications.

The Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position Distinguished Consultant, RF-0601-00, Inform Division Director, serving as a senior Health Scientist that develops, implements, oversees, and monitors science-based communications. The primary purpose of the position is to oversee a variety of scientific-based communication activities related to translating and communicating data forecasts and analyses for timely and actionable information to support public health decision making in various program areas. This vacancy announcement is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens.

As the Division Director, the incumbent will:
• Provide leadership and executive direction, planning, coordination and strategic vision for the Division. The Director develops, implements, oversees, and monitors science-based communications.
• Participate as a member of the Center senior leadership team, chartered with making long- term strategic decisions that impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the Center and Division.
• Be responsible for maintaining a network of stakeholders at other Federal agencies and in the private sector for engagement on public health decision-making. Represent the Center in dealing and negotiating with other Federal agencies; State, local, and foreign governments; the regulated industry; professional and industry organizations; and public interest groups.
• Direct and manage the operations of the Division with primary responsibility for providing leadership and guidance to staff.

Basic Qualifications for RF-0601: Applicants must possess a degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the basic qualifications requirement, a Ph.D. in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position is required.

Candidates must show clear evidence of specialized experience.

Specialized experience is that which is directly related to the position and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, such as experience in developing, implementing, overseeing, and/or monitoring scientific-based communication activities related to translating and communicating public health data for timely and actionable information to support public health decision making. Typically, experience of this nature is gained at or above the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
