Infectious disease geospatial modeling. Candidate with experience on spatial statistics, spatial network models, or spatial epidemiology

Our group focus in the epidemiology of transboundary animal diseases integrating approaches such as traditional spatiotemporal statistics for practical mapping the spread of infectious diseases, and forecasting disease emergence in animal and human populations.
The research will focus on the development of forecast models of swine diseases circulating in North Carolina and in the US. The main goal of this research is the development of flexible spatial and spatial-temporal models of swine disease spread while considering the evolutionary and ecological dynamics of the virus and the contact network of related farms.

Necessary Education, Experience Skills, Training and Education: The postdoctoral associate must have Ph.D. degree in a relevant quantitative discipline (ecology, epidemiology, applied mathematics, physics, spatial statistics, etc). Proficiency in programming with R/Python or similar open-source platform. Strong oral and writing skills are necessary. Good communication and experience in developing grant proposals. Desired qualifications include previous experience with spatial and spatio-temporal modeling or spatial epidemiology. Experience developing and implementing new methods of spatial. Applicants must have the ability to work independently and in collaboration.
The initial appointment will be from 12 to 18 months, with renewal for two or more years subject to satisfactory progress and mutual agreement. The salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the individuals will vary from 48 up to 55K.
