Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research Scientist & Project Coordinator

EcoHealth Alliance is seeking a research scientist to work closely with our science and outreach team to help ensure the smooth development and coordination of research projects on zoonotic disease epidemiology and emergence. This New York-based position is ideal for a PhD graduate with a passion for international research focused on the spillover of emerging viral zoonoses, strong writing and analytical skills, and a desire to manage research projects in an exciting science-based NGO. Responsibilities include project coordination, study design development and implementation, data collection and analyses; drafting manuscripts, grants, and reports; preparing presentations; managing collaboration among scientists; and some administrative support. The position will be based in New York City and occasional travel may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with EcoHealth Alliance partners and associates under EcoHealth Alliance’s Vice President for Science and Outreach in managing zoonotic disease research projects abroad.
Provide research, programmatic, and administrative support to EcoHealth Alliance’s Vice President for Science and Outreach.
Write scientific manuscripts, project reports, and white papers
Develop new funding proposals
Work with partners to ensure project performance in line with programmatic goals and project budgets as well as invoicing, payments, and accounting.
Work with EcoHealth Alliance scientists to develop new scientific research projects on pandemic preparedness and emerging infectious disease epidemiology.
Domestic and international travel to support project activities
Outreach to donors, potential collaborators, and other institutions at conferences, scientific meetings, and public meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD in infectious disease epidemiology or related field (research experience with zoonotic disease preferred) or equivalent work experience
Quantitative analysis, experience with R, and database skills
Demonstrated writing and research skills
Experience working on international projects funded by US Federal agencies is an advantage
Program management experience highly valuable
Experience with international research projects Southeast Asia a plus
Must be self-driven and highly motivated, organized, and willing to perform both research and administrative duties
Strong writing and verbal communication skills and an eye for detail
Strong interpersonal skills, team oriented and a strong sense of diplomacy
Willingness to work some mornings and evenings according to international time zones
Fluency in written and spoken English required

SALARY RANGE: $75,000-$85,000
