Infectious Disease Epidemiologist

EcoHealth Alliance is seeking an infectious disease epidemiologist, with an interest in zoonotic viruses, to join our science and outreach team and work on multiple projects studying bat-borne zoonotic viruses. We are seeking someone with excellent statistical and computational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team that includes scientists from across the globe. This is a key position at a rapidly growing NGO with diversely funded scientific research programs around the world focused on One Health, conservation and zoonotic disease emergence. Responsibilities include leading analysis of longitudinal and spatially extensive disease surveillance data that includes both animal and human subjects, providing technical input into study design, collaborating on project implementation and data management, training and mentoring junior scientists, and grant and manuscript writing. Above all, a passion for understanding the process of zoonotic disease emergence is key. The position will be based in New York City, with flexible in-office & remote scheduling and occasional travel requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide input and support into ongoing projects, including data analysis
-Work with partners to ensure project performance in line with programmatic goals
-Work with the Vice President for Science and outreach and other scientists and EHA to develop new projects
-Provide administrative support such as IRB protocol development and reporting
-Write scientific manuscripts, project reports, white papers and grant proposals
-Domestic and international travel to support project activities
-Outreach to donors, potential collaborators, and other institutions at conferences, scientific meetings, and public meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
-PhD in infectious disease epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field (research experience with zoonotic diseases preferred)
-Demonstrated experience with quantitative analysis in epidemiological studies that include human subjects, experience with R, databases and data management skills
-Experience with human subjects research and institutional review boards (IRBs)
-Demonstrated scientific writing skills
-Experience working on international projects funded by US Federal agencies is an advantage
-Program management experience highly valuable
-Must be self-driven and highly motivated, organized, and willing to perform both research and administrative duties
-Strong written and verbal communication skills and an eye for detail
-Strong interpersonal skills, sense of diplomacy and collaborative spirit
-Willingness to work some mornings and evenings according to international time zones
-Fluency in written and spoken English required

SALARY RANGE
$75,000-$90,000
