Genomic epidemiology postdoc based in UK investigating Salmonella and antimicrobial resistance in Brazilian pigs and poultry #AMR #onehealth

The post holder will join a 2 year project to identify and investigate the drivers and dynamics of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Salmonella in Brazilian pig and poultry production. This research is highly topical and relevant to both animal and human health. This project is a collaboration with researchers in São Paulo, Brazil, and will involve a combination of approaches, including short- and long-read whole genome sequencing, bioinformatics analyses of large datasets and statistical analysis. These genomic data, along with the associated epidemiological metadata, provides an incredible opportunity to address key questions in this field, such as the relative importance of horizontal gene transfer, the impact of antimicrobial use on AMR, and the dynamics of Salmonella and AMR within these production systems.
