Future-oriented modelling of vector-borne, vaccine-preventable diseases
RKI is the national public health institute of Germany. For a new, innovative third-party funded project in the Immunization Unit we are looking for support in epidemiological vaccination modeling and health economic evaluations in the field of vector-borne diseases such as tick-borne encephalitis and dengue fever. Together with academic partners, we are conducting future-oriented research!
Our ’Vaccination Modelling’ team is looking forward to your application!
Your job:
-Develop and fit (calibrate) dynamic transmission models for three different, vector-borne diseases
-Applying the fitted epidemiological model in scenarios to estimate the effectiveness and efficiency of future interventions (vaccines as well as non-pharmaceutical interventions) in Germany
-Internal and external coordination and (scientific) exchange with partners to reach the overall objectives of the project, including facilitating the shared use of data and data sources
-Present and discuss the project results at national meetings and (inter-)national conferences, and preparing publications in scientific journals
Your profile:
-completed degree (Master or equivalent) in applied mathematics, (bio-)informatics, physics, statistics, engineering, computer science, health economics or a comparable quantitative subject
-relevant doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) is of advantage
-Skills and experience in the development of dynamic transmission models, e.g. based on differential equations, individual-based models etc.
-Skills and experience in the parameter identification and fitting/calibration of dynamic models, e.g. based on adaptive rules, Bayesian inference (MCMC) etc.
