FIVE PDRA positions in Matt Keeling's group at Warwick to analyse, model and predict the dynamics of a range of infectious diseases.
We are seeking up to five highly skilled and quantitative researcher to join multiple projects seeking to analyse, model and predict the dynamics of a range of infectious diseases. Ideal candidate would have a strong background in mathematical or statistical modelling of infectious diseases, experience with matching models to data or an understanding of genomics applied to disease transmission.
The five positions are:
• two full-time post-doctoral research fellows for 2.5 years, to work on the NIHR-funded Global Health Research Group “Application of Genomics and Modelling to the Control of Virus Pathogens” GeMVi (https://www.warwick.ac.uk/GeMVi). This project seek to model viral diseases in East Africa, to combined genomic and epidemiological data, and to help train the next generation of East African researchers.
• one full-time post-doctoral research fellow for to up 3 years to work on the collaborative project VEEPED (Vaccine Efficacy Evaluation for Priority Emerging Diseases) tasked with modelling Bubonic Plague and Rift Valley Fever, and how vaccines could be tested and deployed against outbreaks.
• one full-time post-doctoral research fellow for to up 3 years to work as part of the NTD modelling consortium funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. The research focuses on the modelling and control of HAT (Human African Trypanosomiasis) or sleeping-sickness.
• one full-time post-doctoral research fellow for to up 4 years to work as part of the Health Data Research UK for the Midlands. The successful candidate will seek to blend machine-learning and mechanistic approaches for a variety of regional public-health problems.
The successful candidates will be based in the highly successful and expanding Zeeman Institute for Systems Biology and Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research (SBIDER), but will work closely with other researchers within University of Warwick and at our partner institutions. Close working and regular communication between the post holder and the wider team will be crucial to the successful delivery of the research programme.
