Extramurally funded biostatistics and data science role working in a health system on infectious disease ranging from public health to care delivery.
This is a biostatistician II/ data scientist role working within the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Applied Statistics (https://wakeforestid.com/groups/ideas ) group within the Section on Infectious Diseases at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, the academic core of the US's 3rd largest nonprofit health system, Advocate Health (https://school.wakehealth.edu/). The IDEAS group has a dual mission of supporting the investigators in the section (i.e., statistics, data extraction, data coordination, data management, modeling for research, grants, projects) as well as pursuing independent research programming related to infectious disease dynamics, surveillance, and population epidemiology. We're enthusiastic about our work and infectious diseases more generally, and you get to dabble in topics across the translational spectrum. This role is supported through long-standing extramurally funded programs.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in R, Python, Julia, and/or equivalent programming language. Prior experience using SQL to query electronic health record data is helpful, but not essential. If you have a solid programming background and are interested in learning SQL, we'll make sure you get the training you need. We generally work in the office 3 to 4 days per week and enjoy collaborating in person, but we're open to hybrid or remote arrangements for the right candidate.
