Experimental and Population-based Pathogen Investigation Center (EPPIcenter) is seeking a visionary researcher in infectious diseases
The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a visionary researcher in infectious diseases to join the Experimental and Population-based Pathogen Investigation Center (EPPIcenter) research program.
Candidates are expected to hold an MD, PhD, MD/PhD (or equivalent training) and have significant expertise in the study of infectious disease dynamics, mathematical and computational modeling, and/or phylogenetic and phylodynamic methods. Candidates who combine computational/statistical methods development with empirical data (e.g. from field work and/or laboratory data) are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with a research focus on any infectious diseases of global importance are encouraged to apply. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of research accomplishments and the potential to lead a first-rate and independent research program at the time of hire and to be committed to the mentorship of trainees – particularly those from groups that are underrepresented in biomedical science.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, and productive team of students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty with a shared interest in infectious disease epidemiology. They will be expected to establish a dynamic and interactive research program, actively participate in mentoring of graduate and post-graduate trainees, and to participate in University and/or public service. Faculty appointment will be made at a professorial rank commensurate with current academic standing. UCSF offers competitive salaries, research start-up funds, recruitment allowances, and has numerous opportunities for faculty development and further training in mentorship.
Applications must be submitted online and include the following documents as a single PDF: (1) cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) 1-page summary of research accomplishments; (4) 2-page description of future research plans; and 5) a statement of contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion with particular attention to formal and informal mentoring activities.
